Breath & Posture Flow
with Mel.
As fall arrives, the weather shifts and the days start to get cooler, and we start to find our shoulders lifting up and forward. As we feel that cool breeze down the back of our neck, we draw into our collar bones closing the front body, rounding the back, coming into more of a forward head posture. If we are already sitting most of the day, staring at a computer screen, or our posture is impeded by poor breathing habits and holding patterns in the body, everything starts to compound leaving us feeling even more rounded and tight. When this happens we put more pressure on other parts of the body trying to compensate. Just as over time in these positions, muscles and joints are trained to hunch forward, they can be retrained to find the correct resting position.
Let's bring a little breath and movement to the body in this breath flow for rounded shoulders and posture to give ourselves a little reset.

Stay warm & relaxed!

P.s. if you are up for a challenge, next time you're out in chilly weather try relaxing into it! Drop your shoulders and relax on a nice full exhale. Stay relaxed as you take another deep breath way down into your belly instead of your chest and shoulders and relax even more on your next exhale. Keep relaxing on every exhale until you’ve released all tension you bring to the body when you get uncomfortable in the cold!
Just keep breathing and relaxing! Great practice in a cold shower as well.
How comfortable can you get with the uncomfortable?
And how quickly can you do it?
